My youngest son Owen, age 14, asked me to cough up $75 to buy the lumber and hardware to build a skate ramp.

Inspired by a story sent to me last week by Ron McDaniel who helped his 8 year old daughter start a business to raise enough money to buy a horse, I decided it was time Owen learned to fend for himself.

We came up with a plan to sell home-made gourmet chocolate chip cookies door-to-door. Here he is, 10:30 on a Saturday night, baking his first test batch.

I think he’s starting to catch on…
