Another local entrepreneur and I, Mike Baird, CEO of Human Arc, started a pilot program at a local high school to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among students. 24 brave and dedicated juniors and seniors elected to sign up and stick it out to learn what it takes to start a business.

After a full year of showing up 45 minutes before school, staying late and coming in on Saturdays, the students are preparing to present their final business plans to a panel of local business leaders and entrepreneurs.

A recent memo Mike sent to the students says it all:

“The excitement builds as my young entrepreneurs complete the process of getting ready to start a business. I assure you that once you have completed this full process, you will walk with a confidence into college and your careers that few students can claim. You know that if you decide not to work for someone that you can create your own destiny.”
