About

For nearly two decades, I’ve been exploring a simple question: how do ordinary people, those with no obvious advantages, manage to get ahead?

To find out, I traveled the world studying the lived experience of everyday entrepreneurs, people with no big ideas, no capital, and no advanced degrees who still found a way to build meaningful, prosperous lives. What I found was a predictable pattern of underlying beliefs and assumptions: a mindset that set them apart, and that anyone can learn.

In 2007, I founded the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative and led the development of the Ice House Entrepreneurial Mindset Programs, now used by educators, workforce leaders, and ecosystem builders worldwide, with recognition from the United Nations, the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, the European Commission, the Kauffman Foundation, and the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.

I’ve written two books: Who Owns the Ice House?, an international bestseller co-authored with Pulitzer nominee Clifton Taulbert, and The Entrepreneurial Mindset Advantage, which combines that research with work on learning, motivation, and human flourishing. I also host The Entrepreneurial Mindset Project and speak throughout the U.S. and in more than two dozen countries.

My work with organizations is delivered directly and through the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative.
